Frequently Asked Questions

I made too much! Can I store the batter in the fridge and cook it later?
Yes! You can store leftover batter in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

I cooked too many pancakes. Can I store cooked pancakes? How?
Absolutely. You can store leftover pancakes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Or store in a ziplock bag in a freezer for up to one month.

It’s so yummy! Can I eat the mixed batter raw with a spoon?
We don't recommend eating the batter raw as delicious as it may be because raw flour can cause stomach pain. Please cook the batter first to enjoy fully!

If I follow the cooking instructions on the back of the package, how many pancakes will I get?
You’ll get 4 regular sized pancakes, or 7 small pancakes like in the picture below. P/S: that’s an IKEA kids plate.

Do I need to store the packet in the fridge?
No need, you can simply store it in a cool and dry place like your kitchen cupboard.

Can I use milk instead of water?
Of course! It makes fluffier pancakes!

How much pancake mix should I use?
Use 1 cup of pancake mix for every 4-5 pancakes you want to make.

How much water do I need to add to the pancake mix?
If you want thicker pancakes, add 2/3 cups of water for every cup of pancake mix.
If you want thinner pancakes, add 3/4 cup of water to every cup of pancake mix.

Should I use cold or warm water?
Whichever you like. Both cold or room temperature water are fine.

Do I need to sift the pancake mix before adding water?
Nope, our pancake mix is ready to use right out of the box. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Should I let the batter rest after mixing?
For best results, yes do let the pancake batter rest at least 2 minutes after mixing with water, before cooking them.

How thick should the batter be?
Hmm imagine thick cream. The batter should be pourable but not runny, similar to the consistency of thick cream.

How can I tell if I've mixed the batter enough?
Don't over mix! Just mix until there are no large lumps. Some small lumps are okay.

What kind of pan should I use to cook the pancakes?
For best results, use a non-stick skillet or griddle.

Should I use oil or butter to grease the pan?
We’d suggest using a small amount of oil or non-stick cooking spray. Butter can burn easily so it’s not recommended. Butter lovers out there don’t fret! You can add butter on your pancakes right before you eat them ;)

How hot should the pan be before adding the batter?
Heat the pan to medium-high heat. A drop of water should sizzle and evaporate quickly when the pan is ready.

How much batter should I pour for each pancake?
Pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake. How much is that? It’s about as much as a ladle or senduk kuah. Refer to photo of senduk below:

How can I make sure the pancakes are all the same size?
Use a measuring cup or ladle (as pictured in question above) to pour the batter each time.

How long should I cook the pancakes on each side?
Cook for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Refer picture below of golden brown goodness:

Make sure the pan is properly greased and hot enough before adding the pancake batter.

Okay now how do I keep the pancakes warm while I cook the rest?
Keep them in a single layer on a baking sheet in a warm oven 90C. Don’t stack em’!
If you don’t want to turn on your oven just cover the pancakes with aluminium foil.

How do I reheat my leftover pancakes?
Simply reheat in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds or in a toaster until warm.
